Short Description: Panel fit
|
The factory says the instrument, as shipped, is a bit larger than needed and the builder is (basically) to "file to fit". I attempted to install the panel and was able to verify that it is, in fact, too large. Wanting it to fit better than guessing where to take off how much, I thought I be "smart" and estimate the first cut on a CAD file, drive in to town and have a full size print made and then use that to mark a cut line. A naïve approach as I could have made more than one iteration in the file and then have all of them printed at the same time. No sir, not me. That's why I had to make two trips in to town. But now it fits.
And, remembering that when checking the wired circuits to see if any were going to let smoke out, I noticed the panel flexed more than I liked when pressing the switches, I took the time to add a stiffener to the bottom of the panel.
Who said I'd be able to get by painting the panel only two times?
