Short Description: Miscellaneous Tasks
|
Over the last two weeks, many misc tasks were completed.
Some of these were to final attach the wingtips, verify and adjust ailerons, and install engraved fuel caps.
Other tasks were installing headliner and window moulding, interior panels, and shoulder harness bolts.
The exterior handles were also installed. They are solid stainless with 5" centers. After drilling the mounting holes, I attached a piece of music wire with a 90 degree bend in it to a drill. This was then inserted in the holes, between the interior and exterior layers. It was then rotated to clear the honeycomb core, wich was then vacuumed out. A mixture of epoxy/flox/cabo was then injected into the space between plys to create a hardpoint for mounting the handles. An interior doublers was fabricated from 063 sheet to help support the handle loads. The handles were then installed using AN509 flathead screws. Blue loctite was used for security.
