Brief Description:  Nose and Main Wheels

46-06, Step 5

Brad and his roomate Ian, helped me slide the four J-11968-14 Nose Gear Elastomers onto the shaft of the WD-l016 Nose Gear Link Assembly, then slide the shaft into the WD-l001-Dl Engine Mount. Slide the VA-143 Bushing into the nose gear link assembly, then bolt the nose gear link assembly to the WD-l017 Nose Gear Leg. Secure the nut with the cotter pin called-out.

46-05, Steps 1, 2, 3, & 4

Slide the U-1005 Spacer and one of the Main Wheel and Tire Assemblies onto the axle of the U-1001-L Main Gear Leg. Thread on the U-1004A Axle Nut and carefully tighten it unlil there is no side play in the wheel, but it still rotates smoolhly.

Thread the U-1 004A Axle Nut off the axle while counling the number ollull turns required to remove it (a mark on the top side of the axle nut will make it easier to keep track of a full lum). Remove the Wheel and Tire Assembly, then thread the axle nut back on the same number of turns that was required to remove it. Center-punch the axle through one of the holes around the axle nut (the hole opposite to the one selected will also have to be accessed, so don't select the top hole). Without moving the axle nul, match-drill the selected hole into the axle using an 1/8" drill bit. Insert an 1/8" pin (or another drill bit) to hold the axle nut in position, then center-punch and match-drill the axle from Ihe opposite side of the axle nut. Remove the pin and run the drill bit clear through the axle and axle nut. Remove the axle nut and deburr the holes

Bolt the U-1004B Nut Extension to the U-1004A Axle Nut. Drill a 05/64 hole through the nut extension and bolt, then install an MS24665-153 cotter pin.

Reinstall the Wheel and Tire Assembly and the U-1004A Axle Nut, then secure the axle nut with an MS24665-360 cotter pin. The cotter pin will have to be bent slightly to clear the wheel while il is being installed.

Unfortunately, the cotter pin doesn't clear the tire valve. I need to determine how best to resolve this issue.
