Brief Description: Parts Fitment on Elevator / Mate with Horizontal S
Lots ot tedious checking and rechecking with this part.
Installed elevator ribs; cleco'd front edge of them. Flipped the elevator over (pic 1); cleco'd skin to bottom of ribs; installed trim tab channel. Installed center channel segment. Fabricated two L angles 50mm long; drilled pilot holes in one side. Slipped this behind center channel, clamped, and back-drilled thru channel into undrilled side of L angle. Cleco'd. Drilled thru pilot-drilled side of L angle into rib on each side. Updrilled from 40 to 30 then to 20 and cleco'd. Note: Had to cleco top side of skin onto ribs and channel (pic 2) to ensure everything was square, as per plans.
Flipped the elevator right side up onto 2" beams to keep cleco's off the table. Positioned previously built horizontal stabilizer in position so that the elevator hinge cleco'd to the stab could be slipped between the skin and ribs of the elevator side. Had to re-install the plastic stabilizer tips and tip ribs. Lots of time spent aligning elevator for even gap between the stabilizer tips.
