Brief Description:  Fiddled with prop tip distance.

No pics.

As I noted a day or so ago, I had insufficient prop tip clearance to the ground. One user (credible) noed that with the nose wheel flat, I should still have 6" of ground clearance. So I decided to test.

Had to position the nose whel so the valve stem was accessible. Removed the valve stem and let the tire go flat. Only had about 3.5" of clearance - way low.

My ultimate solution will be to installed 1.5" square tubing between the nose strut and the nose fork. Since this sits a few feet behind the tip of the prop, there will be more than 1.5" of clearance as a result. So I worked up a jig with a block of wood to fit properly under the center of the firewall. I jacked the front of the plane up 1.5" to simulate the addition of the square tubes. This resulted in a prop tip clearance of 8.5" well within the recommeded distance set by Zenith.
