Brief Description: Finished rudder pedal center bearing / cotter keys
Have been in KS the past week so it was good to resume some work. PLUS: temps have finally dropped; only about 80 today!
Continued to work fit of the center rudder pedal bearing. When torqued, the pedals would hardly budge. I tried different lubes. Sanded. Sanded some more. Still too stiff. Finally used a dremel rotary drum sander, followed by some manual smoothing. This time the pedals pivot just right. Seems like about 8 trial attemps!
Installed cotter pins on the lower pivoto bolts on the brake master cylinders. Upper ones are pinned after the rudder cables are installed.
Lastly, I installed the left axle on the main landing gear. Two of the 4 bolts were installed by Matco, the supplier, and they looked a bit longer than the called-for bolts (AN4-15A). Sure enough, as shown in the 3rd pic below, there is no thread poking through the self-locking nut - supposed to have at least one thread. So, it's off to AeroPerformance for some longer bolts. *sigh*
