Brief Description:  Seat Pan Install / Upholstery Install / Fire Extin

Well, not a lot really accomplished.

I started out intending to install my fire extinguisher behind the passenger turtledeck former, so I spent some time cutting and trimming a wedge of material to fit forward of the ELT. I wasn't really happy with the way the extinguisher would fit, so I got to thinking about installing the unit next to the passenger's legs - I'd seen that done on other Sonex', but had concerns that it would be in the way of legs or feet during flight, or worse, during ingress/egress.

So I figured the only way I'd know for sure would be to sit in the right seat and see where body parts and the extinguisher would fit.

I had not installed the seat pan since I had installed the belts, and I'm glad I tried - the seat belt "tangs" interfered with the seat pan. I spent some time adjusting the cutouts to fit adequately.

Once the adjustments were done, I installed the seat pan and got in. To my surprise, if I mount the extinguisher verticall just over the rudder cable, and just in front of the vent handle, there's plenty of clearance - both with feet on the rudders as well as feet on the floor. It was also out of the way during ingress/egress.

Well, since we were this far along, my son said we should install the upholstery, so we did.

Still have to get some hardware to mount the extinguisher. Getting ready to transport the plane to the hangar real soon.
