Brief Description:  Moving Day!

Just didn't think it was going to happen today.

The day started out busy with lots of errands; we happened to be on the South side of town on other business, so stopped by the hangar to make sure the combination provided by the previous tenants was still valid - it was.

Got home, and started prepping the plane for transit. Really thought it was going to happen tomorrow, but that was turning out to be a logistical challenge with getting our #2 son out to DFW in the AM to catch a flight. So I removed the gear fairings, the wheel pants, and installed the canopy. Fashioned some control surface locks out of cardboard (they worked, too!).

Then my neighbor brought down two trailers - one for the bird, one for the wings.

We got the plane tied down quite securely to the trailer - we were going to have to go about 30 miles one way (no hangars closer) at 65 MPH on 2 freeways. It had to be secure. The plane was relatively simple; fore and aft straps around each gear leg, side-to-side straps on the tail, plus a strap over the top of the turtledeck in front of the horizontal stab to keep the tail from flying up. Had enough room to wedge 2x4's between the sides of the main gear and the side of the trailer.

Tied-down the wings in every way possible. Removed the casters from my wing stand and literally screwed it to the wood floor of the 2nd trailer. Installed the wings and strapped them to each other, and fore and aft.

Uneventful drive to the hangar; man that Sonex seems dwarfed in it!
