Brief Description:  Wheel Pants / Leg Fairing Install

Installed the wheel pants and gear leg fairings for the first time to determine if I needed to trim anything on the leg fairings to accomodate the width of the fiberglass at the cowl & wheel pant.

First, though, I fab'd some hinge pins. I made the fairings with center-located hinge pin install points, so fab'd 2 pins for each side.

Next, I put a line of black Sharpie down the bend line of each fairing and heated with a torch until the line burned off. This reduces the tension of the metal (this is a non-structural part, so it's OK) allowing easier installation when you're trying to hold the edges together with one hand whilst inserting the pin with the other.

I noticed that on both sides, the brake actuation leverl is hitting the fairing, preventing any actuation. That would be bad on first taxi, let alone landing. The plans show the lever arm oriented "flatter", but the arms I have don't have a cut in place (it's a star pattern to go over a square peg) to allow this orientation. Will investigate more tomorrow.

Oh yeah; although I haven't posted much, I'm regularly polishing and painting parts.
