Brief Description:  Cowl Halves Alignment / Taping for Drilling

Preparation for drilling centerline hinges.

A bit frustrating; lets just say the cowl halves fit differently due to preloads "off" the airplane than they do "on" the airplane.

Started out by taping the cowl halves into place on the fuselage, just for one final sanity check, and to make some alignment marks on the cowl halves.

Removed the halves and placed them on the workbench. Tried to line up the halves, and boy, was that difficult. I had to try to recreate the preloads of the aircraft on the bench by squeezing the halves together, then applying packing tape to secure the halves in position with the 3rd hand. That I didn't have. Had to remove and re-apply the tape several times. I'd get one edge lined up, and start taping up to the front of the cowl, then notice that the prop hub flange is off about 1/4"!!!

Finally got everything to a happy medium and called it a night.
