Brief Description:  Paintin' and a Polishin'

Sprayed clear-coat on one half of each wheelpant.

Sanded some rough spots on right wingtip after first clear-coat layer. Shot another, and a giant piece of fluff landed in the wet clear-coat! Arghhhhh.... Will have to sand it out in a few days and shoot one small area again.

Most of the time was spent polishing. I figured that I'd do the areas that have immediate need. As an example, I have to rivet the builder plate in position (was drilled yesterday), but don't want to polish after it's' mounted, so I spent some time polishing the last two panels of the left fuselage with two coats of F9 and two coats of C grade NuVite.

I then did 4 passes of polish (2 F, 2 C) on each side of the tail so that I could apply my N-numbers once the FAA says I'm legal.

I don't intend to polish the entire plane before first flight, but didn't want to polish over stuff I don't have to.

Riveting the builder plate was a challenge; I have the newer Sonex rivets which don't pull well manually - the mandrel wants to push in when the handle is released between pulls. Finally had to hook up the HF pneumatic riveter, reach in the fuse, and hold the mandrels during the pull. All for 2 rivets. sheesh.

Also riveted one rivet on each side of the fuse that I had to remove to get the machine screws in the two holes of the lower aft fuselage skin.
