Brief Description: Light Pods / Wheel Pants

Well, it was time to adhere the light pods to the wingtips. As noted, I obtained some Marine Adhesive 5200 from a boat store. This stuff is supposed to be pretty tough yet flexible. The problem is, it takes 48 hours to become tack-free, and a full 7 days to cure only 1/8" deep.
So, I applied a thin bead around each light pod and put into position. The trouble is, although very close, the light pods were not 100% flush with the wingtip, so I had to figure out a way to apply consistent pressure for 7 days (or more).
I filed a flat into aluminum angle to support a C-clamp as shown in the pics below. Then, I noticed a few spots where the edges were lifting up on the pod, so I had to apply additional clamps to pull them flat. Of course, the clamps would slip off, the pods would slip out of position, etc. so it was quite tedious getting them set up.
Once that was done, I marked the wheelpants for cutting and drilling. Some builders have said to mount the pants a bit higher since they sometimes drag on longer turf runways. I increased their height by 0.5". Tomorrow is the cutting operation.
