Brief Description: Crankshaft Prep / Bend Ldg Gear Legs
Unpacked the engine crankshaft to see how much cleanup will be required (not much). Checked to ensure that the prop hub and cam gear DO NOT slide on prior to freezing / heating the parts. Verified that the retaining ring will fit in the crankshaft groove.
Made up a jig for bending the left and right main landing gear fairings (shown in pic 2 below). Worked OK to start the bend and finish the bend, but I ended up just folding over the skins by hand. Not bad; The ends line up, so hinge attachment and pin installation should be easy.
Unfortunately, both fairings are about 1"" too long - they won't fit between the brake assy & the bottom of the fuselage. Before I start trimming, I'm going to ask Sonex just to make sure something else isn't messed up.
