Crammed myself up under the glareshield / fuel tank again to finish securing the forward fuel tank strap. Hot and humid. Literally had to mop up water from the cockpit floor when thru.
Used safety wire to hold the staps close. Installed an AN3-14A bolt. Specs called for an AN3-10A, but since other builders said their front straps never pulled tight, I re-bent the angle on the forward straps. As a result, a longer bolt was required. Once snug, I thought I would be able to then secure the straps with safety wire and move down to an AN3-12A bolt, but the strap was quite snug with the -14A. So, I used safety wire to hold the straps tight, then removed the bolt and reinstalled, this time with washers.
Once that was done, I removed the upper firewall. I drilled a 1/8" pilot hole from inside the filler box to accomodate the tank vent line. Using a uni-bit, took the hole up to 7/16". Deburred the hole using files, a deburring tool, and sanding drums in my Dremel. Installed grommet.
