Brief Description: Glareshield / Fuel Tank Final Adjustments
A lot of time, but mostly spend on tedious trial-and-error fit checks.
Re-made the rudder cable attach link that I trialed last night. Works great, and provided some additional clearance around the gascolator by reducing the left rudder pedal travel.
I then installed the fuel tank with the felt liner I made for it. This was just a bit too tight such that it distorted the glareshield where the upper firewall is supposed to rivet onto it. Removed half the thickness of the felt (easily separated) and tried again; tight, but not tight to the point of distortion.
Next, I checked the fuel line fit. Last time, I cut off about 3/16" from the end and re-flared. This still seemed tight. Manually re-bent some portions of the line to provide better alignment to the shutoff valve. This required multiple on-and-off attempts with the line. Finally got it to fit well without interfereing with the firewall. Marked the spot for the adel clamp to secure the line. Removed the glareshield again. Drilled a hole for the adel clamp and secured it.
Installed the glareshield. Cleco'd into position. Installed upper front motor mount-thru-glareshield machine screws - those front two are real pains to install. Lots of dropped washers and retries. Finally got all 6 into position and torqued. Installed the front two fuel tank straps.
