Started off re-installing the fiberglass tip on the vertical stab. Cleco'd the aft tip rib for the fiberglass after marking out rivet hole locations on the rudder portion of the tip. Temporarily installed the rudder to make sure the rudder-to-tip gap was even which it was. Just a bit wider than plans spec, but should be OK.
Removed the rudder and tip. Deburred all; riveted the aft tip rib to the vertical stab. Cleco'd the fiberglass tip back into position. Didn't want to make it permanent until the rudder was done.
Drilled holes for the cotter pins in the rudder and vertical stab which will keep the rudder hinge pin from drifting out. Installed upper cotter pin. Installed the rudder and hinge pin. Used another pin to push it in the last 1/4" so that it would clear the lower cotter pin hole. Installed pin there as well.
Riveted the fiberglass tip.
Installed the left and right rudder cables to the rudder control horn.
Installed the rudder cables to the rudder pedals as per plans. Obtained full left rudder deflection, spaced the left rudder pedal 3/8 from the firewall. Marked and drilled hole to secure the cable to the pedal. Aligned rudder to center using the jig shown in figure 3 below. Aligned rudder pedals to be even, marked, drilled, and installed right cable to right rudder pedal.
