My neighbor stopped by this evening to catch up on my project. He's building a Van's RV-12 and is getting ready for his DAR inspection.
We re-installed the rudder to illustrate the concerns I had about the rudder hinge possibly being installed wrong. Also tested to see if we still had interference from my last trim attempt on the lower control horn. We also installed the lower hinge section that will ultimately mount to the aft fuselage.
Funny-after we trial-fit the lower hinge, we clamped it, drilled and cleco'd one hole. It is obvious now that the apparent hinge misalignment is either not present, or is minimal enough to make a difference. All appears to swing freely without binding.
Still have to trim a bit off the corner of the left rudder stop plate on the aft edge of the fuselage - still hits the control horn just a bit.
