Performed initial fit checks of the horizontal stabilizer to the aft fuselage today since it was on the warm side and I could work with the garage door up.
I had previously located the centerlines of the stab and the fuselage, and used these to assist in the location.
Lots of on-then-off attempts to trim the skins for a decent fit and also to adjust the control horn that limits the desired amount of "up" elevator. Still not quite 100% ready, but much closer.
Was perplexed by a slight difference between the left and right side of the fuselage. Where the front tail spar meets the fuselage, the right side has a bit of a bigger gap than the left. I finally noticed that the aft fuse skins were not trimmed perfectly even, so there was a small difference in the length of the skin on one side.
At this point, I'm still trimming the lower tail skins for adequate clearance between the skin and the fuselage; then I'll drill the mounting holes for the tail. Of course, this will require another warm day.
