Brief Description: Panel Location / Pilot Drill / Glareshield Pilot D
Removed the glareshield. Placed upside down on bench, and located the panel into the "V" of the glaresheld. Clamped on each end, then used a helper to manually hold the upper edge in position while I pilot drilled from the bottom. Repeated on each side.
Removed the panel, reinstalled the glareshield into the fuselage. Re-cleco'd the panel. Clamped the panel attach angles to the forward wing attach angles. These serve as the aft location anchor point for the entire panel/glareshield assembly. Positioned the glareshield/panel assy against the attach angles and pilot drilled.
Pilot drilled the glareshield-to-fuselage longerons. The glareshield fits *below* the longerons.
Played around with seeing how the fuel tank would fit. Seems to slide in just fine. Picture 3 below looks like the tank is tight against the upper side of the glareshield, but that's just because the tank is not supported, so is hanging down in the back. Picture 2 shows the surprising amount of room behind the panel and behind the tank.
Manually located the lower panel support subassembly, but haven't yet drilled it. Just wanted to see if it would fit nicely. It does.
