Brief Description:  Lowered Seat Parts Detail

This was frustrating. Basically, it took 4 attempts to make one part.

The part in question is SNX-F10-03, aka SNX-C06-06. I am doing the 'lowered seat option", so throughout the plans, the builder is referred to supplemental plans sheets SNX-C06 & SNX-C07.

Important to note also is that I purchased the "machined angle parts" option when I bought my kit.

While at AirVenture, I found a 36" length of angle stock for this piece, since I had run out. I found what I needed at AirParts, or so I thought.

Ooops. Once home, I noted that the angle needed to be ~37" in length, and I only had 36". Crud. I'll order more soon anyway and got back to work on other things.

Once starting on SNX-F10 page, I discovered that (duh) I already had a pre-made SNX-F10-03. However, it was fab'd for the unlowered seat, so the elevator control rod notch was not centered the way I needed it for the lowered seat. Kerry said that I could just re-notch it in the right place, but I wanted it "right" so I ordered a new length from ACS.

Parts came, and I copied all the holes from the supplied F10-03 onto my raw stock. Then I noticed that the end holes shown in pic 2 below were also drilled per the old plans distances. The lowered seat had them more toward the edge. Did a test-fit. The holes, if left as-is, would be too close to the edge. Rats. Found a local 6061-T6 supplier (duh), got ANOTHER new piece of stock, and refabbed it correctly. Pic 1 shows the 4 angles; factory supplied in the front, too-short in the back, and the other pieces in between.
