Brief Description:  TurtleDeck Initial Fitting Completed

Busy time of the year; hadn't touched it since last saturday, 6 days ago. Had a wedding that night, then we went to KS for a few days, then a day or two to recuperate. Have wedding tomorrow, and a reception tomorrow night. Then a wedding and separate reception NEXT week as well. Hard to squeeze in the airplane when life gets in the way.

Oh my aching back. That's what I'll be saying tomorrow.

Since you have to access the former-to-side panel junction from underneath, there was a lot of crawling around under the fuse, crouching, bending, etc. I'm too old for this!

Located and pilot drilled the #5 former. Extremely tight to get to. Located and installed the front formers. Once located, positioned and pilot drilled the splice plate, then the forward clip that connect to the splice channel. After that, the lower former to crosstie box splice plates.

Then installed formers #4, #3, and #2, in that order as per plans. Took some time to try and get a tight fit against the skin so I minimize the dimples that so many builders have encountered. Still have to tweak a bit more.

After the formers were located, then I had to drill thru the t-deck skin to the formers.

Once this was complete, Updrilled everything. All that remains is to disassemble, deburr, reassemble, and rivet. Feels good to have the t-deck/aft fuse almost complete.
