Brief Description: Finish Flap / Start Right Aileron Detail Parts
Finish right flap. Riveted SNX-06-05R drive rib assembly, then riveted entire flap.
Test-fit onto wingbox assembly. Has a "lip" on the upper surface of the wing as if the hinge was drilled too close to flush with the edge of the wing. The left wing, which I thought was perfect, has it as well, but probably about 1/32" less. Have a question in to Kerry at Sonex. I'm ok with it structurally / appearance-wise; just want to make sure it doesn't disturb the airflow.
Then proceeded on to the right aileron.
Assembled the aileron drive rib, SNX-04-05R. Had to measure and position the drive plate onto the rib. Clamped the parts together and pilot-drilled, then up-drilled to #30. Disassembled and deburred. Re-assembled with cleco's then riveted together.
Moved on to SNX-W04-09R channel assembly that fits between the counterweight arms to seal off the aileron (otherwise would have a 1" x 1.5" hole in the skin).
Cut channel stock to length, then ripped to correct width. Measured, trimmed to size, and deburred. Clamped together and marked rivet locations. Pilot drilled and up-drilled rivet holes to #30. Riveted.
SNX-04-06 hinge was cut to length during wing box fabrication. Marked-out and pilot drilled hinge placement holes. Special spacing required in vicinity of counterweight assembly.
Cut skin to length. Cut angles for tip rib. Cut offsets for drive rib plate and counterweight arms.
