Brief Description: Failed Attempt at Panel Labelling
|
|
Well, another delay, another un-sat experience.
recap: I really didn't want to silk-screen my panel, and the labels I saw weren't all that attractive. I found some ink-jet-printable rub-on decal papers on the internet - you print on one sheet in mirror image, then apply a second sheet, peel off, and apply.
The technology worked well on my test coupon. Sort of. Part of the issue is that inkjet printers don't print in white (duh...). So I was going to use yellow. Unfortunately, the yellow that came out of my printer (HP) just wasn't dark enough / heavy enough to make a diff against the gray background of my panel.
I re-tried using a heavier font. Tried a black background, even though I wasn't too excited about using it. So, I think I'm going to use a labeller.
Fortunately, after I had ordered my rub-on paper, but before I received it, I attended the Greater Southern Sonex Gathering last weekend, and another builder (Dave Clay) brought his panel. I must say, I was very impressed with the quality of his lettering - really couldn't tell it was done with a labeller unless you tilted just right.
He was kind enough to provide the model number of his labeller, so we'll give that a try. Just more waiting at this point.
