Brief Description:  Antenna Installation / Mike & H/phone jack

Applied second coat of paint on the instrument panel. I like the stuff I'm using this time, and it covers nicely. it's a keeper (about time; I've stripped off about 3 other coats of stuff I didn't like...)

Install ELT antenna. Easier said than done since it was in the aft portion of the fuselage, meaning I had a hard time getting up in there, plus the fuselage was not raised up very high.

Updrilled holes in the turtledeck formers for the ELT coax. Used the lower tooling holes. The holes are a bit bigger than would be expected because the ELT coax came pre-formed with BNC's on each end. The bushings I had were too small so I obtained new ones - still too small. Will try again tomorrow.

In addition to the holes, I further secured the cable using two cable tie mounts. Cleaned the surfaces with alcohol (read this somewhere...) and stuck 'em on. They're tight; can't get them off without mechanical leverage.

Tested the ELT. Tested using both the remote switch and main switch at the top of the hour as per FAA regulations.

Installed xpndr antenna and connected the coax. One end is not terminated in a BNC in order to allow the builder to adjust the cable length.

Lastly, I decided to place the headphone jacks in a little sub-panel under the middle of the panel crossmember. Laid out jack locations on pice of 1/8 angle. Drilled 4 mount locations. Marked angles to trim on ends and trimmed; deburred.
