"Tonight I drilled the mounting holes in the 1st and 2nd aft fuse crossmembers for the new ""longeron"" I fabricated yesterday.
I then positioned the shelf I also fabricated and drilled it to be flush with the edge of the longeron.
I meausred a 1/4"" line on the shelf where it will overlap the real longeron already part of the aircraft structure, marked out rivet holes, and drilled the shelf. I then installed the shelf and drilled thru the shelf holes thru the longeron in the aft fuselage.
I then removed it all and positioned the ELT mounting bracket where it will fit well yet not interfere with the rivets. Drilled 1/8"" holes. Instructions say to use 4-40 screws, but I'm thinking of riveting it using countersunk rivets. I may post a query to the discussion group."
