Brief Description:  Wing Attach Block, Wiring, Air Filter

Various areas worked today.

Fabricated the "inner" wing attach block for the right wing; had previously re-made the outter block. This is to re-do the wallowed-out holes for the rear blocks (those on the right wing). At this point, just need to mate the wings outside of the fuse, and using the existing good holes in the left wing, drill new holes in the attach blocks.

Next, I moved onto the control stick wiring. I'm using the MicroAir transceiver; this was supplied pre-wired for use with my Enigma EFIS. As a result, I have two switches on each stick - one for PTT, and the other for freq swapping.

I'm using foam bicycle grips for the stick grips. On the ends of the stick, I'm using 7/8" hole plugs. I played around a bit with placement of both the small swap button and the larger PTT button and came up with the spacing shown below. The center of the large hole is 11/32" from the edge of the plug, and the smaller hole is 9/32" from the edge.

I then made up four harness sets of twisted-pair wire. They probably don't have to be shielded or even twisted, since they only close a circuit when the respective switches are depressed, but since the supplied harness was twisted, I did these as well. Am letting them sit overnight to take a "set."

Lastly, I installed a new K&N air filter in the AeroCarb. Although the optional air cleaner assy comes with a paper filter, there has been at least once instance of the paper deteriorating or catching fire, and the engine ingested the remains. I thought I'd go with the K&N before first engine start. I also re-installed the safety wire holding the AeroCarb in place (was removed when I was trimming the intake manifold during cowl fit.)
