Brief Description:  Cowl Markup for Fuel Filler / Windshield Trimming

This is the first time the cowl has been put on the fuselage since the hinges have been riveted to the fiberglass.

Encountered a problem on the lower hinges that attach to the bottom of the fwd fuselage. Was in and out with the hinge pins several times, determining how far they *would* go in; they just would not go all the way.

Finally determined that the last rivet on the outboard edge of the hinge was hitting the bottom of the motor mount (the shop head of the rivet). Will have to compress-that down. With the height of the rivet, it is pulling the last hinge loop down so it will not align with the others. Both sides.

Once the cowl was put into place, I found that even though I had marked and trimmed the 'glass around the prop hub, a bit more needed to be trimmed. Marked that.

Next, I used the previous alignment marks/distances I had placed on the windshield/cowl/upper firewall strap. Marked the distance to cut the edge of the cowl. See the blue line in the 3rd pic below. Also marked the location of the holes for the Southco 1/4-turn fasteners (red dots in 3rd pic).

Lastly, I placed the fuel filler door sub-assembly into position. Fits great; will be able to drill the hinge holes in the 'glass just by taping the door in position and drilling from the backside. Also marked thelocation of the filler door Southco fastener so I can drill thru the filler door.
