Brief Description:  Hanging the Engine

Hung the engine today. A bit frustrating, but in the end, successful.

With the help of my two sons for the lifting, we installed the engine as per suggested in the plans. Once we started measuring, the centerline of the prop hub to the airframe was perfect, but the engine was a bit too far aft (by 3/16"). We removed the engine, and I installed a shim on the backside of each mount lug to move the engine forward.

Interesting point - the fender washers supplied by Sonex were supposed to be 1/16" thick, but they were quite a bit thinner than that. As in, it took 3 of them to make 1/8" instead of two as per plans. Lowes had the perfect fit, 1/16" thick washers. So I ran to get new washers. Upon my return, I remembered that the aft washers needed a 3/8" hole to fit the mounting lugs, so back to Lowes for some more!

Before installing the engine for the second/final time, I set the magnetron-to-magnet distance. I was going to do this once the engine was installed, but after seeing how tight it was during the first test fitting, I figured it would be easier on the bench.
