Brief Description:  Antennas, Compass

Car problems yesterday and today, plus yardwork, cut into my airplane time.

I included a picture of the painted panel below (mentioned it yesterday). I like it; the finish is even, so I'm just letting it dry several days before I start mounting things.

I bought and installed new rubber grommets for the ELT coax leading to the antenna; installed those.

Located and drilled a hole in the glareshield for the GPS antenna. Since I'm going to ultimately install the Sonex style glareshield cover, I cannot mount these items until the cover is in place; fortunately, it's just cutting small holes with a razor at that point.

Located and mounted the comm antenna. It's supposed to be at least 3' from any other antenna, which is where it is located from the ELT antenna. I didn't want it too far forward just to keep RF from the ol' brain bucket. I *still* have not been able to find correct mounting hardware at Lowes / Home Depot, so I guess I'm going to have to find some AN hardware. It's held with cleco's for now.

Lastly, I mounted the compass bracket.I tested the GPS antenna against it, since the antenna has a built-in magnet. As long as the magnet is about 8" away from the compass, there is no problem. I will have mine closer to 18" forward on the glareshield so I don't expect any issues.
