I was not happy with the way the nylon washers sat under the canopy latch rail due to the fillet of the aluminum angle. I had tried filing to no avail. However, while at AirVenture, I came across an end-mill with a sharp angle, so I purchased it.
Mounting in the drill press, it took some steady hands, but I was able to remove most of the offending fillet from the latch and now the nylon washers sit flush. I had previously tried to remove one side of the washers where they'd ride against the fillet, but they kept turning, and the edges would impede the latch slide in the lock slot. Now everything works smoothly."
