Brief Description:  Wiring / Brake Cables / Battery Box

Frustrating day. At this point, it seems like everything is dependent on everything else, creating a Catch-22 situation that prevents me from getting anything done.

I printed some wiring labels and secured them to my initial thru-the-firewall wire bundle using clear heat-shrink tubing. I used a hair dryer, and was not impressed with the shrinkage. I used a match under one, and noticed that it shrunk some more, so obviously I was not providing enough heat. I *thought* the hair dryer was hot enough... Since it was cold, I had the propane heater running off the top of my propane cylinder. Holding the wire over the top of the heater provided enough shrink.

Drilled holes in the firewall for the brake cables for where they pass thru to the cable block on the lower left motor mount location. Had to re-mount the mount, used a drill to mark the locations, then removed the mount to actuall drill the holes, since the firewall was at an angle and allowing the drill to "bite."

Lastly, got very frustrated with trying to figure out the battery box. The plans say you should be able to just rivet the battery box into the location specified in the plans. However, I could not see how one could remove the battery due to motor mount obstructions. I even made up a cardboard mock-up of the battery (Odyssey PC-625) and confirmed my suspicions. I've put out a call for help to the Sonextalk community and to Kerry at Sonex. Some builders have used removable sections of the box to allow removal; I really don't want to create custom fabrication.
