Brief Description: Drill Mount for Gascolator / Mount Volt Regulator
Using the template for the gascolator mounting holes, I drilled two 3/16" holes for the AN3 hardware used to secure the gascolator to the firewall. Test fit; had to file one hole < 1/64" to get a smooth fit.
Picked a spot for the voltage regulator; no specific measurements provided in the AeroVee installation manual. The suggested spot is below the fuel filler box. In figure 2 below, you can see the lower edge of the upper firewall (held by cleco's) just above the regulator.
Drilled pilot holes and up-drilled to 3/16". Installed nutplates since any nuts on the backside would be occluded by the fuel tank; I've read of voltage regulators failing, so wanted to provide an easy means to remove and replace. Drilled holes for the nutplates; riveted into place. Installed regulator.
