Brief Description:  Right Aileron Rivet Markup & Counterweight

Well, a slow week. Monday had a migrane, so didn't do anything. Tuesday was our Chapter meeting, and Wednesday night my Tech Counselor came over. I guess I can't say I didn't think Sonex yesterday....

Tonight, I measured out the rib locations on the right aileron, and marked those and the corresponding rivet holes. Took extra care, as with the left aileron I just marked out as per plans, and the counterweight rivets were more on the marginal side of acceptable. This aileron has everything lined up so that the ribs and the hinge rivets align just right. This took more time than just measuring the distance and drawing some lines....

I then finished up the aileron counterweight assembly. All that had to be done was the placement and pilot drilling of the center channel assembly that fills the void between the two ribs that hold the counterweight arms. Needed some extra hands, so I clamped the whole thing in the vise, clamped it all securely, and drilled away. Then updrilled the entire counterweight assembly to #30. Just have to deburr and rivet it now.

For the aileron itself, I just have to drill the rivet holes, position and pilot drill the ribs, then mark dink around with the infamous tip rib that will take a bit of time to fit, trim, refit, etc. to get a nice fit.
