Brief Description:  Drilling / Cleco'ing Elevator Control Horn

Slow week; not much activity. Very humid lately; that may be the reason. Anyway, was hotter today (102 or so) but much drier. Well, it *felt* dry.

Positioned the elevator control horn between the elevator halves. Left the elevator hinged to the stabilizer.

Marked-out, drilled, and cleco'd the top surface of the control horn. Had to think about it a bit to work the underside. As I was positioning the stabilizer/elevator assy to the edge of the table in preparation to flip it over, I noticed that even though I had the top of the horn cleco'd, you could still wiggle the elevator halves enough that I had alignment apprehensions.

Went out to the wood pile and found a piece of solid oak flooring trim that was as level and straight as a straightedge. Clamped that to the trailing edge of the elevator, flipped the assembly over, and supported it with 2x4's to take the load off the cleco's that were now facing the table.

Marked, drilled, and cleco'd the lower surfaces of the control horn. Then, positioned the assy to the edge of the table so that I could mark/drill/cleco the last 4 holels that face the aft spar.

That done, I removed every other cleco, and up-drilled them to #30, cleco'd and removed the remaining #40 cleco's and drilled the last holes out to #30.

At this point, all I have to do is remove the cleco's deburr everything, and rivet the control horn in place.

On a somewhat related note, was disheartened to find out the the end rib I damaged last Friday, and was told would ship from Sonex on Monday, 14 July, finally shipped Wednesday PM, 16 July. UPS is predicting it won't get here until Monday the 21st. *sigh* Guess I won't get the fiberglass tips on and finally finish the elevator for awhile longer.
