Brief Description:  Elevator pushrod and trim cable housing installati

I installed the (short and long) elevator pushrod today.
there was quite a bit of work involved to get this done.
Firstly it seemed that the forward vertical support channel had to be removed in order to be able to install the long pushrod. I had already permanently riveted this one in place years ago so the rivets needed to be drilled out. No big deal, only 12 of them.
The short rod is connected to the long one with 3 bolts and the instructions explain how to position one over the other correctly to ensure full +25/-20 travel.
I first pilot drilled the short rod and installed it over the long one in the plane. It became apparent that the rod was contacting the bottom of the hole in the rear spar carry through (this seems to be a common problem), so I had to grind away some material there.
Finally with the stick held 1/16" from the spar tunnel and the elevator in the full down stop I was able to drill through the short and long pushrods to attach them to each other.
After initial 3/32" drilling I took the pushrod assembly back out and finished the drilling on the drill press.
Then the assembly was installed again and the bolts to attach the pushrods to each other were installed permanently. finally the pushrod was attached permanently to the idler (and temporarily to the elevator horn).
I now can pull on the stick and see the elevators move.
