This session I removed the right flap and deburred the match drilled holes for the hinge. I checked the edge distance for the hinge holes and several were less than the minimum required two diameters (3/16") spec from center of hole to edge of hinge flange. I will order a new -4 hinge which has a wider flange. This distance is critical because the flap sees a lot of force against it as it is the only control surface placed in the air stream for extended periods of time. I don't want the flap hinge to fail while on short final, not a good scenario. The need for a wider flange hinge is a common occurance and is the right fix for this issue per several posts on vaf.net.
I took a couple minutes and taped the left wing tip in position on the wing. The shape and fit look pretty good on the top. The bottom side is not as good, the wing looks cool with the tip installed. Starting to get close to the end of the wings.
It was really hot today at 96 degrees or so with high humidity, welcome to summer.
