Brief Description: Completed left leading edge placement & drilling
Today was the culmination of a lot of mental energy expended on aligning the top skin and leading edge skin with the pre-existing spar flange drill holes. Two days ago, using the strap duplicator, I was able to duplicate the flange holes into the top skin. When I tightened down the nose skin using straps today, I slid the leading edge skin under the top skin and used those holes as my guide for drilling out the leading edge skin. It worked like a charm. I'm getting quite accustomed to using the straps and 1" x 2" boards to pull down the skin, which is good since I'll have to do it at least two or three more times when I'm ready to install the fuel tanks. At this point, the structural work on both wings is complete. From now on, I plan to do everything in tandem so I will complete them at the same time.
