Brief Description:  OB spar parts polished, cleaned and primed

To say this took longer than expected would be an understatement. Perhaps no section of the Zenith Construction Manual is as adament about technique as is the spar section. All scratches are to be filed or sanded lengthwise and there can be no nicks of any kind. I used medium and fine grit sanding sponges for the general work, and 320 grit wet/dry sandpaper for areas that required special attention. The process is painstaking, but it will result in a higher level of confidence in my work. That alone makes it worth the time and effort. I took all the parts outside and cleaned them with Ultra-Strength Dawn and rinsed them thoroughly. As you can see below, the parts were then given a break in my hammock. By the way, that's Lucy--our English Springer Spaniel--trying to make sense of the scene. Once they were dry, I bought them back in, cleaned them with alcohol and applied spray primer.
