The Silver Bullet arrived today for testing. This is Gary's 62x78 that he uses on his 0-235 Varieze. The prop came from Dale Martin and believe it or not was the prop I tried several years ago when I just had installed the 390iS. The prop came from Dale with a couple small paint chips, some epoxy hardened on one blade, and possible stress cracks on the hub. Furthermore, it was noticeably out of balance. When I ran it up I got a static of 2570 which is really good, but the vibration was driving me crazy. I wanted this prop to test it's performance, but the balance is critical, so I'll be pulling it off and trying to balance it at home with Dale's permission. If I can't balance at the hub, then it would mean sanding on one blade which would make it non-returnable. Not sure what's gonna happen but i've got a couple days to decide while I prime the wings white. However, the static rpm is a good sign, so I'm hoping for the best here.
