when I was cleaning up the nose gear strut last year and removing the old hardware I sanded all the filler off that the previous builder caked on. Unfortunately, I also sanded through some of the glass. I saw a picture once of a Cozy that, on touch down, snapped the nose gear stut in half! Well there was my motivation... :) Instead of re-glassing it I decided to save some weight and add the plans 2 plies of BID but in Carbon Fiber. This saved me the added weight but is now MUCH stronger than the plans strut. Piece of cake :)
