Brief Description:  A little of everything 1

Today was extremely productive. First, I spread a bead of flox at the strake, fuse intersection on the bottom skin and laid up 2 plies of BID tape and peel ply. Next, I Installed the fuel line bulkhead fittings. This was great, I drilled 2 small holes outside the large hole. 1 was where I would inject wet flox into the cavity where foam was cleared out for the bulkhead fitting and the other for overflow when the cavity had filled. This method is a BILLION times better than the plans method of pushing it through a mess of flox. This keep the outside of the bulkhead fitting clean and guarantees a solid hardpoint filled with flox without voids. I then threaded the nut over the AN-8 Fitting and wrenched it just past finger tight, placed small pieces of peel ply around the nut and now these will cure overnight. Prior to installing the sump blisters I will be adding 1 more layer of flox and 1 ply BID over the bulkhead per plans for a nice leak free seal. The next task of the day was to prep the upper skins for the Fuel Probes by Nick Ugolini. Pretty easy install when the strakes aren't finished yet. These as well as the electronics will be tucked away from view in the cabin. :) Finally, I went ahead and used a hole saw to open the top skins for the fuel caps. This was a fun job. I drilled out a slightly larger hole on top due to a taper in the fuel cap ring design and it worked out REALLY well after filling the area with flox and pressing the ring into position. The position was also a science. Not wanting to lose a fuel cap in mid flight, I made sure that my cap's lift tab was facing exactly behind the relative wind and not sideways at all. I superglued a stir stick on top of the ring to hold it tightly in position for cure...... boy the mail man better hurry up with the final parts, I'm almost ready to close these strakes! :)
