Brief Description:  F-674 fwd top skin - more fitting

Continued to work on the fwd top skin (F-674) and finished the first pass at fitting. However, had a problem area on the lower rt side, aft end of the F-674 where is overlaps the F-675 aft top skin at bulkhead F-607.

First the problem. Needed to secure the F-674 fwd top skin somewhere on the top section (flat area) and establish a starting place from which to work the rivet lines. Decided to insert the F-674 skin between the F-607 bulkhead, and the F-675 aft top skin. Since the F-675 and F-607 were already backdrilled, it seems logical to start at the top of the bulkhead and work along the rivet line, downward to the longeron. Unfortunately, I totally disregarded the curvature difference of the top layer vs the middle layer when this is done. The top layer has a SLIGHTLY longer circumference.

After back-drilling a few too many holes along the line, I moved the F-674 to the TOP layer, overlapping the F-675. Then it became clear that the holes become progressive misaligned along as the line approaches the longeron. Sent a tech support request to Van's but no answer yet.

Another RV-6A builder made specific recommendations for using a half dozen 'oops rivets' in the last 6 or 7 holes. Probably will get a similar recommendation from Van's and will order some.
