Brief Description:  F-675 Aft Top Skin

Photo #1 shows the F-675 aft top skin clecoed in place, after back-drilling. Fore and aft ends have not been trimmed, holes not deburred, or dimpled.

Photo #2 shows more clearly the untrimmed portion on the Rt side forward of bulkhead F-607, although neither side was yet trimmed.

Photo #3 indicates on the masking tape an approximate trim line for the aft end where you can see that the F-609 bulkhead has not been fabricated or inserted. After tracing the skin profile onto a board held vertical, it is clear that the form block for making the F-609 will probably need to be adjusted - the height is less than shown on the QB9 drawing.

The F-608 bulkhead was the most difficult to fit. It is neither 'square' with the skin or the conical shape of the tailcone. An effort to 'straighten' the bulkhead would result in an unacceptable twist in the bulkhead. The orientation that worked best was to minimize the warping in the inner flange of the bulkhead. This was less of a problem for the F-607 bulkhead, but at certain viewing angles, it is visible. Both bulkheads show secure fit, inspite of this difficulty.
