Brief Description:  New F-642R&L seat floors

Decided to refabricate seat floors to correct alignment of rivet and nutplates holes.

The first owner apparently had some difficulty installing the floor panels in the seating area. It appears from the misalignment of the rivet holes that the ribs were NOT aligned properly and secured before attempting to drill through the floors into the rib flanges. Photo #1 clearly shows the result when the rib is free to float under the floor and there is no certain alignment before drilling blindly into the floor and hoping to hit the center of the rib flange.

Don't laugh. This was the first section of the Quick Build kit for a new builder and understandably a 'learning experience' followed. We've all been there and done that.

The technique to accomplish proper alignment is described on the entry for 8/3/06 (next).

I am going to remove some of the nutplates and move them slightly so that I can use ONE of the two rivet holes but re-position the nutplate on the flange in a new spot so that a new and straighter rib alignment can be achieved.

Note: the 9 yrs of dust in the bottom will take a little more than a good vacuum. It is not just dust on the surface but years of dust and it requires a good brushing and then can be vacuumed. Photo #3 shows the baggage compartment floors which at factory fitted and will be retained.
