Brief Description:  Drilled front hoop to canopy

This evening I wiped all the talcum powder from the top of the canopy before doing anything else, Anne-Marie was sick of me coming into the house covered in the stuff, so a bucket of water and a sponge made quick work of cleaning it up. I then went over my idea of having Anne-Marie climb into the cockpit and hold the hoop in place while I back drilled. Sooooo I opened the canopy and braced it with a long lenght of wood and some bubble wrap to protect the canopy so that Anne-Marie could climb in. Major fluke, the canopy moved into place on the front hoop which moved forward enough just to place light pressue on the insdie of the canopy. No need for Anne-Marie to climb in, I tentatively drilled and clecoed the center hole and closed the canopy to check that the front rubber was correctly positioned, it was, anyone else doing this should consider this approach, it made a difficult job very very simple. While I drilled the remainder of the hoop Anne-Marie followed with the clecos. We then closed the canopy and the rubber makes perfect contact all the way around. My hats off to the man that makes the canopy and also Zenith, the front hoop was a near perfect fit it just needed to be slightly smaller at the ends and hve one slight bulge flattened. After this success, I remade the front hoop support brackets out of 0.063 inch aluminium. Thanks to all those people that sent me info about the requied bracket size. 120mm long, bent in the middle at about 40 degrees. My plans were the old revision 01/03, the new plans have the dimensions specified.
