Brief Description: Working on horizontal stabilizer tips
Some composite work on the horizontal stab tips. Some adjustment is needed then drill and cleco in place and make a template for the fiberglass rear plates. Plans say use 2 layers of fiberglass but no mention of cloth weight so I assumed they meant standard 7.5oz/yard cloth (15oz layup) so I used 3 layers of 6oz cloth (18oz layup) and West Systems 105 epoxy resin for a slightly stiffer layup. To get a proper gap, I made a spacer from 1/8 balsa and taped it to the counter balance to make sure the final shape resulted in the called for gap. Plates were then epoxied to the tips and any gaps filled with Super Fil and sanded finish.
