Brief Description: Fay-sealed LH tank Interior ribs
After some research on VAF we decided to follow Rick's method of Fay-sealing the fuel tanks.
Cleaned all surfaces to be sealed with MEK and masked off the rivet lines with electrical tape. We then applied adhesive shelf covering to the webs of the ribs to mask them off.
Applied tank sealant to the rib flanges and Clecoed them to the skin by their upper nose. Once all the interior ribs were in position we folded the skin down onto the ribs starting at the bottom rear and working forward, inserting Clecos in every hole.
Formed the squeezed-out sealant into fillets between the rib and skin using a Popsicle stick and then removed the electrical tape and adhesive shelf covering.
