Brief Description:  Wing rigging

Today was the big day, wing rigging day.
The whole thing took almost 12 hours including a short break for lunch. I had a couple of friends come over to help We started at 9am in the morning and finished at 8.30pm in the evening.
As you can see in the pictures I put the fuselage at the edge of my garage, one wing in the garage, one partially out. My driveway is quite steep so this is probably the easiest way for me to get everything level. I used a combination of 4 jacks to level the fuselage and hold the wings level as well, 2 big ones under the axels and 2 smaller ones under the wings.
Everything took longer than expected, starting with initial installation of the wings, they did not go in at first and I had to file away a tiny bit of the attach blocks and the opening in the fuselage side skin to make them fit.
Once they were in it was a matter of measuring, measuring, measuring.... you have to make sure the fuselage is level in 2 directions using 2 levels, make sure the wings are correctly positioned in the fuselage, make sure the wings are level, this is done with a clear plastic tube with some coloured water in , you have to then make sure the position of the wing relative to the aft most tip of the rear fuselage is according to plans (left 3.6mm greater than right), ....
The problem is that once you adjust for one of these measures all others have to be rechecked again and again.
Anyway, by about mid day everything was as according to plans and I was ready to start installing the aft spar carry through. Again this took much longer than expected, it is very fiddley work and there are lots of very hard to reach holes. I only drilled & clecoed all holes to 3/32, this will hold everything in place enough for now. I will finish this job later.
I started working on the main spar holes somewhere between 5 and 6pm, at first everything went smooth, the initial drilling of the fuselage vertical angles to 1/4" using the holes in the spar blocks as guide is a piece of cake, up-drilling to 3/8" with the special
