While waiting for the wing rigging kit I'm still finding other various bits an pieces to do, so I decided to make the canopy and windscreen bows at this time. I started by drawing the bows in AutoCAD and printing them on the plotter at work, this way I have a full size reference to compare the bows to. I then made a simeple "bending device" on my work surface, similar to what other Sonex builders have done, the first picture shows this sophisticated device. I started with the windscreen bow, this is harder work than I thought, the windscreen bow is a solid round alumium bar and it took me over an hour to get it shaped in a way I was happy with it. I think the canopy bows will be easier though since they are hollow tubes.
