Brief Description: Installing the wing walk / root doubler
I installed the wing walk / root doubler today. I used the same process as with the root doubler on the other wing. I had already match drilled the wing walk area to the top aft skin when I had that lying on my work table, now with the holes drilled through the forward skin and lower aft skin to #40 I can continue the job. Again, first I removed the forward skin and used the overlapping holes above the spar to place the doubler/ wing walk on the skin with cleco's, then clamped it all in place and used the remaining holes in the skin to drill the doubler. After that it's the same procedure with the aft skin, remove it, cleco the doubler at the overlapping holes and clamp the rest firmly in place, then use the holes in the skin to drill the doubler. Finally I put everything back on the wing, now I can updrill all the holes to #30 and #36 (for dimpling).
